Supplies You Need for DIY Essential Oil Gifts
If you want to give your family and friends a more meaningful gift during the holidays, then using essential oils for DIY gifts is a great option. They are easy to come by, provide a lot of options, and have added healing benefits as well. Here are some supplies you will need if you are going to make DIY essential oil gifts.
Naturally, the first items you are going to need for gifts using essential oils are the oils themselves. You can use a starter kit, but you will be limited with the scents they come with. If you do choose a starter kit, find one with at least 10-12 scents and make sure you read which ones you are getting. You can also choose your oils individually based on scents you want to use for the gifts, or buy some different blends specifically for the holidays or the theme you want to use.
The next type of item you will need for DIY gifts using essential oils is your carrier oils. These are oils you mix with the pure essential oils to make them safe for direct contact with the skin. This is necessary if you will be touching the oils, or you are making products that will go on the skin, such as lip balm, face masks, cleansers, lotions, creams, and bath bombs. Some carrier oils include:
- Olive oil
- Jojoba oil
- Coconut oil
- Almond oil
- Avocado oil
- Grapeseed oil
When you are making homemade essential oil gifts, you will also need a good amount of containers. Think about the types of items you will be making in order to determine what containers to get. Many items can fit into mason jars of varying sizes, which are great because they come with airtight lids. Other jars or containers are fine, but the lids need to fit on tightly to keep the oils fresh. With all containers, try to choose glass, except for specialty plastic containers, like a lip balm tube.
Additional accessories will vary based on the items you are making. This might be salt or sugar for scrubs, ground coffee beans, string or yarn, fabric to make drawer sachets, various types of shea butters or oils, and many other accessories. Make a list of what you are making first to figure out what other supplies you are going to need.
